Picowrimo promotion post

November approaches, which means that as others gear up to the mammoth prospect of Nanowrimo, I disregard it as completely impractical and look to picowrimo instead, which has the enormous benefit of letting me set my own limits, and letting those limits be smaller. I did it for the first time last year, and will join in again in 2010. I don’t know what I’ll do as yet. I have some fic in dire need of pursuing, but I also want to do some original writing. At the moment my goal is “something every day”, with one fic and one original piece identified for some work, and I’ll be happy to make progress on both (though obviously several complete fics and a large chunk of original work would be delightful, but let’s face it, that isn’t going to happen).

The official blurb:

"PicoWriMo started out as a place for people who wanted to participate in some of the madness and achievement of NaNoWriMo, but wanted a more realistic target - say 500 or 5000 words.

We got together for November 2006. Members set their own goals for the month, and it was so successful that we decided to go again in November 2007. And again in 2008. And again in 2009.

We have daily prompts for people to post about what progress they're making and to give encouragement to others to hit their writing targets.

There are no goals other than those you set for yourself, and no compulsion beyond what you put upon yourself. There are no limits on genre, style, age, or experience, and both fiction and non-fiction are welcome.

Participants are welcome to post excerpts (rated for a general audience), ask questions and for advice, provide insight into the writing life, and so on. Although we are not a reviewing, editing, or beta-reading community, links to completed stories are also welcome.

The only thing we ask is that you help keep the atmosphere friendly and supportive."

Hope to see some of you there!
