One thing about not feeling very tied-in to the Oxford community (ahem) is that I don't really know the local legends. Which means that I don't know the answer to the following question:

How on earth does the harmonica-playing man on Cornmarket get his cat to wear a jumper?

The man in question is a chap in late middle-age who sits on the corner of Cornmarket and something else, and plays the harmonica. He is kept company by his cat. Which lies on a stool beside him occasionally looking stuffed (it isn't), and wearing a woolly jumper. And sometimes a raincoat. I don't know how he does it, but I hope he never turns his powers to evil.
